What is a water leak detector?

A water detector is a sensor used to detect water leakage within a measurement range. Water leakage sensors are widely used in data centers, communication rooms, power stations, warehouses, archives and other places that need waterproof.Water leakage sensors detect and prevent standing water and flooding caused by broken pipes and faulty equipment. Sensors are placed in areas where leaks often occur, such as near faucets and under water heaters.

Water leakage sensors are divided into contact water leakage detectors and non-contact water leakage detectors.

Working principle of contact type water leakage detector
The principle of liquid conduction is used for detection. Under normal conditions, the bipolar probes are air-insulated and the sensor outputs a dry contact signal when the probe is immersed in water. When water touches the sensor probe, the main control chip can accurately judge the state by calculating the change of magnetic field and process it. The main control chip is imported from the United States, and the misjudgment rate is “0”. It can contact the probe, the common leakage rope, and even distinguish between pure water and tap water. The default is to detect tap water.

Working principle of non-contact water detector
The refraction and reflection principle of light in different medium cross sections are used for detection. The LED and photoreceiver are placed in a plastic hemisphere. When the detector is placed in the air, most of the LED photons are received by the photon receiver due to total reflection, and when close to the hemispheric surface, the photoreceiver receives light due to light refraction. The received LED photons will decrease and the output will change. Applicable to the general corrosive conductive liquid leakage site deployment.
